The Jesuits manage Xavier Institute of Engineering (XIE). They are the members of the Society of Jesus, an international spiritual organization founded in 1541 by St. Ignatius of Loyola. Today, 450 years later, the Jesuits are spread all over the world and happen to be the largest religious organization in the Catholic Church, with over 20,000 members working in education, social‑science and scientific fields.

XIE was established in 2005 by the Society of Jesus (Jesuit fathers). It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), recognised by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra and affiliated to the University of Mumbai.
